Where to add a touch of color in offices

Color that gives life to environments

Many office projects tend to use a neutral Color Palette, with a predominance of whites, beiges and greys, to accommodate the natural color of the materials used in the project, such as wood, stainless steel, iron, copper and even brick. In this way, the own color of the materials is not "killed" with other colors. Although this is an unwritten rule in interior design, what happens if we want to put a touch of color in our office? Where can we put it? Today we will see some success stories and ideas of where it can be applied.

colored melamine furniture

This is a fairly common case in office kitchens, which are usually equipped with mid-range melamine or HPL furniture. As it is a space for daily use, and the intention is to have a functional kitchen, we have chosen furniture made of white melanin and a floor of the same material that imitates wooden slats. As the space is very neutral, the interior designers wanted to add the splash of turquoise at the tables with benches and at the center table. But the most brilliant thing was the idea of the open drawers off the wall, each in a vibrant, energetic color that brings the kitchen to life. A idea low cost with a magnificent result.

Chromatic harmony

Imagine this space without chairs or lamps. It would be very boring, no doubt: paneling of wood maple on both sides, table also made of maple and, in the background, a acoustic paneling in gray. Of course, the rug already gives it a certain chromatic dynamism, but the idea of the chairs is fantastic: the tubular structure is lacquered in yellow and the seat upholstered in the blue of one of the shades of the carpet. As a complementary color, we have the green lamps, also made of acoustic fabric. Why do these colors go so well? Because of the mixture of yellow and blue, both primary colors) you get the Verde (secondary); and on the other hand, the Grey has a percentage of cyan (blue). Despite the variety of colors, our sight perceives all the very harmonious chromatic set.

The murals do not fail

This is a more risky proposal and, nevertheless, with excellent results, although here the "touch" of color covers an entire wall. The dining room of this office, mainly with wooden floor, tables and ceiling or in wood color, gave a very flat result. What to do to raise it? A great mural with an origami figure of all colors (which reminds us a lot of the work of the Spanish artist Okuda). If you add color to it in the seat upholstery of the chairs, the space is resolved. Without a doubt, the murals consist of decorative resources that enrich any workspace. In fact, a few months ago we published a post about wall decoration in offices, In case you want to see more examples.

Color on the ceiling or color on the floor?

Two very interesting examples of where and how to apply color in an office, but in reverse. In the first case, the terracotta red color of the roof and some vertical walls unify the entire office space, which has full vision, since the divisions are glazed. Also, the continuous floor of polished microcement maintains this same sensation of continuity and uniformity throughout the floor. In these cases, it is very important that there is a good ceiling height, otherwise the space may visually decrease. As complementary colors, some touches of natural green, the light wood tables with a white structure and black chairs, to match the profiles of the enclosures.

all on the ground

In this contrary case, the floor has been chosen to apply the color with a smooth sky blue linoleum. Some walls have also been highlighted in blue, and give way to white, beige or blue furniture. The ceiling height is standard (between 270 and 300 cm), so applying the color on the ceiling would considerably reduce the space. Here, however, continuity has been achieved starting from the ground, which gives the sensation of walking among the clouds if you add the impressive Sea View and to the city But what is that purple sofa on the left doing? In the next photo we give you the explanation.

Corporate colors

Indeed, the eggplant or purple is the corporate color of this company (the same as the previous image), to which it adds a turquoise circle in all corporate design. And with this thematic key and its views of the sea they have developed the entire chromatic project of the offices. The meeting room was furnished with white furniture, except floor and wall in purple and a circle in blue in reference to the sea. He turquoise point of its graphic image is represented inside the large lamps of ceiling.

There are many interior designers and architects who start from the logo colors of the companies to design the color program of the project. With all logic. Although other projects are based on the most representative products of the brand, such as Heineken, which uses the characteristic green of its bottles.

color and function

We give another example of using corporate color to add that "color touch" that many offices appreciate to enrich the project. This is the case of Takeaway, the Just Eat application, whose corporate color is orange absolute. At its headquarters in Berlin, which occupies several floors of the building, the interior design project was mainly based on a neutral box, with concrete or vinyl floors and columns in grey, wood and green. All of these colors do not contravene the power of orange, which should be present in an obvious and subtle way at the same time.

Una orange carpet directs workers and visitors from the offices to the restaurant area, which logically is given great importance. The carpets in these offices fulfill a function of signaling very clear. The subtle touch is found in some tubular elements and rails, where color is present but discreetly and without invading the visual space.

Splashes of color on the furniture

We have numbered several ideas to give life to office spaces, sometimes extremely sober and sparse in color. We can integrate them into soil through carpets or vinyl; in ceilings with paint; on walls, through murals decorative; even in lamps and structural elements, such as pipes or lighting tracks.

But the most common and equally successful formula is through the furniture, either painted, lacquered or upholstered. We give this example, quite representative, where different primary and secondary colors very powerful. A decorative mural is added to the set (where only the azul is replicated in the furniture) and some banners that pick up the rest of the colors of the furniture. The wood in a natural tone and the black tables desaturate the whole and turn the space into a cheerful and fun environment.
